How much of the cornishfoodmarket.co.uk fruit and veg is British…?

All of our meat, fish, bread, milk, cream, eggs, beer and cider are sourced in Cornwall, we cast the net a bit wider for some of our other product categories and customers understand that Cornwall does not produce a full range of fruit and veg. We're often asked whether all our fresh fruit and veg is British - the short answer is no - we have to bring in some produce from abroad that cannot be grown commercially in the UK, citrus fruit and bananas are probably the best examples. The reason we stock those items is customer demand - most grocery customers want to do a 'one stop shop' and buy produce throughout the seasons - when we set up cornishfoodmarket.co.uk we thought long and hard about restricting our range to entirely Cornish and/or British produce but we took a pragmatic view that overall we would sell a lot more local produce if we attracted a greater number of customers through having a full range.

We're sure this policy has worked but for those of you who'd like to know what fresh produce we can source in the UK here's a typical list from what we have during this, the last week of August: -
