Doom Bar, The Publican’s Favourite

The award-winning team at Sharp’s Brewery is celebrating again. This time, the brewer’s ever popular cask conditioned Doom Bar brand has been named Best Regional Cask Beer in the South West for the second year running.

Voted for by licensees across the UK, Doom Bar, with its distinct aroma and balanced flavour, received the most votes across the region in the Great British Pub Suppliers Awards 2010, organised by trade paper The Morning Advertiser.

Over 10,000 votes were cast by licensees looking at which suppliers provided them with the best service and added value.

Commenting on the win, Sharp’s Director, Joe Keohane, said: “We’re thrilled. The support we are receiving by the industry and regionally is overwhelming. We are an ambitious team with high standards and it’s fantastic to receive further recognition for what we do.

“This award follows on from Doom Bar’s success in the Publican’s Licensee Choice Awards in September when Doom Bar was voted the third favourite cask beer in UK. The brand’s success in these awards was very impressive when considered that Doom Bar is not distributed on a full national basis.”

He continued: “Given the investment that we make we’re looking to continue to make progress. We have the ambition to make Doom Bar a major, national beer brand and our plans and focus are directed towards that.”

Doom Bar, Sharp’s flagship brand has also received independent recognition as the No 1 selling cask brand in the South West and Wales, and is the fastest growing cask brand in Greater London*.
