Dieting? It takes the biscuit

I don’t do new years resolutions, well I did once and it was to 'not to make any more new years resolutions' because I only ever broke them … turns out this year's one was the easiest to keep!!!

But it is January and like so many other places all the diet, sorry I mean ‘healthy eating’, companies are offering reduced joining fees - it would be rude to not take advantage wouldn't it?!

So now I vow to take part in the healthy-eating-non-diet routine in a bid to rid the horrid word that is 'DIET'. Diet is simply scary, it feels like a mountain of hard work, starvation and deprivation, I fear this word as to me, it wreaks of failure even before I begin and I ultimately I know i'll end up craving biscuits.

So, along with thousands of others this month, I've joined Weight Watchers and i've found that my new found non-diet is no longer about deprivation, starvation and feeling miserable and hungry. It's about FREE foods!

Free foods are food and drink that you can eat as much of as you like or can manage and have absolutely no impact on your waistline. Hurrah!

Right now I’m rediscovering fresh local leeks and cabbage, best of all bacon has its merits! They consider it to be filling and healthy!!!

So this week’s favourite meal has been grilled bacon, scrambled eggs, over salad topped with loads of sweet cherry tomatoes.

Tonight I’m going to experiment with creating a fresh leek and potato soup.  I've got my weigh in on Wednesday, fingers crossed.

For an alternative to Jenny's leek and potato soup, how about a 'hearty potato and leek open omelette'
